The Wa She Shu Foundation

Created and established under Washoe Tribal Council Resolution Number 2015-WTC-15, the Wa She Shu Foundation is a non-profit organization organized in accord with the Washoe Nonprofit Corporations Code, Title 35 and the Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3). The specific purpose of the Foundation is to generally improve the lives of Washoe Tribal members and improve the Washoe Tribe’s ability to address the effects of an extremely high poverty and unemployment rate on the Washoe Tribe and its Tribal members.

The Foundation focuses on culturally enhanced education, post-secondary education endeavors, youth athletic opportunities, and other various activities and trainings for the benefit of the Washoe Tribe, which is comprised of nearly 1,500 enrolled members, most of which live on the reservation, located about 20 miles south of South Lake Tahoe, CA.
